I propose remove possibility of manual design for Drone, Freighter,Transport and Colony Ships
Designs can be added automatically after new technology discovered.

Good point. But in future space for this classes could change and several designs for this classes would be possible.

I propose automatically make a basic design for this classes, i.e. add smallest engine available only.

For colony ship, and also drone this makes sence. But freighters are never going to change. They are not really controlable ships, and as they just get added to your freighter total, then they will not matter what equipment they have. So mybe with freighters an automatic class will be fine.

With drones, I think also these should just have one design possible.

Colony ships should be customizable, but only with better engines. Colony ships should not have weapons, armour etc.

Transports should be able to have better engines and armour and shields only.

About ship components and their size.

I think that is more realistic if you will use MOO2 model for ship design.
In MOO2, size and other characteristics of each device are depend from technology level and class of ship.

Now, in game, the size of the engine for drone is equal the size of the engine for the titan, there are no logic.

I propose to add some coefficients:
1 for ship class,
2 for technology level,
3 for devices cross interference.

By default all coefficients is equal 1.
All coefficients must be calculated once at design stage.

For engine size formula will be like this RealEngineSizeefaultEngineSize*ShipClassCoeff*TechnologyLevelCoeff1*TechnologyLevelCoeff2*DevicesCoeff

TechnologyLevelCoeff1 depend from construction science level.
TechnologyLevelCoeff2 depend from engine science level.
etc.

With all do respect to MOO , our game is already getting too complex. Adding another level of complexity to ships mechanics would be too much.

MOO is a series of games. Master of Orion. The best one ever is considered MOO2. This games generated a whole genre of games in the industry, so called 4X games.

Oh, ok. I will have to take a look some time.

I am guessing its a space based browser game like DQ:H.

NO, its not a browser game Its a stand alone game.
