Ok, I am trying to think of some more descriptions for the technologys. I think these should be different from the descriptions used for the actual buildings though.
Anyway, I counted about 140 techs, so its going to take a while to think up all these descriptions. So, does anyone have any ideas for any of the descriptions. I will post all I have thought of so far, and also post up sme half complete descriptions that need more adding.
Also any comments/idead/suggestions about any of them would be good
So far we have.
Planetary Weather Control Theory:
Since ancient times people have tried to control the weather. Tribes would dance to summon the rain. Exactly how effective this was is questioned. Your researchers however say that it is possible...in theory. This will allow you to change the climate of planets to be more suitable for your uses. Now isn't that convenient?
Research in this area will increase your understanding of weather control, and allow further research into specialised uses of this technology.
Planetary Gravity Control System:
So you ate a bit much this week and want to loose a little weight? Well, you could try dieting, but if that is not for you, then messing with the planets gravitational field may be an easier option. It won't make you healthier, but then research in other areas should fix that.
This advancement will allow you to build a Gravity Control System that will help reduce your maintenance costs.
Fusion Bombs:
Humans have always been fascinated by the delicate art of blowing stuff up. They would regularly gather for a display of fireworks, and their enthusiasm grew from their. The only problem was getting enough energy, truly spectacular displays required too much energy to be viable. But now, thanks to the ultimate power of fusion, you have a near endless supply of energy. Enough to make your friends cheer and your enemies cower in fear.
This advancement allows you to build fusion bombs, a new weapon for your ships.
Atmospheric Filtering Center:
Your ancestors used to burn everything, unaware that all that pollution had to go somewhere. You unfortunately are aware, and can’t ignore the fact. The Atmospheric Filtering Center is the answer, it collects all that pollution and concentrates it into tiny manageable pellets, ready to launch into the nearest star. Now that’s progress.
This advancement allows you to build Atmospheric Filtering Centers, these will clean your planets atmosphere and remove harmful chemicals, preventing pollution.
Underground Farm:
When you look out over the rolling meadows and farmland, what are you thinking? If you’re like us then it’s probably how great it would be for a new entertainment complex or city. But then where would you get your food? Our solution is simple, build them underground. By using the latest in artificial lighting techniques, your plants will never know the difference.
This advancement allows you to build underground farms that help save surface space and increase food production.
Cloning Centers:
Do you have trouble making friends? Or wish your friends were more like you? If your answer to either of these questions is yes, then what you need is a Cloning Center. It gives a whole new meaning to ‘making friends’.
This advancement allows you to build Cloning Centers that will help increase your population growth rate.
Holo Simulator Center:
A picture says a thousand words, but did you know that a 3D moving picture says closer to ten thousand? Probably not, and we are not convinced ourselves, but once you step into the Holo Simulator Center, you will realise that it doesn’t matter anyway...in fact matter itself doesn’t matter. The Holo Simulator Center can recreate anything you want, using just force fields and lazers. Just remember where the door is...else you may be lost forever.
This advancement will allow you to build the Holo Simulator Center that will help increase your population growth rate.
Orbital Farms:
What happens if you launch a farm into space? Well, we don’t know...up to now no one has been crazy enough to try it. We aren’t either, that’s why we carefully build our farms in space, giving you a genuine orbital farm, without some of the dangers of alternative methods
This advancement allows you to build orbital farms that help save surface space and increase food production.

Artificial Gravity Theory:
Gravity, now where would you be without it? Floating around in space, that’s where! Gravity is our friend, right? Well, no, not really. (need more here)
Galactic economics:
Money makes the world go round. Well the same goes for the galaxy aswell. (need more here)

My thoughts about cloning centers were more about cloning organs as a medical center than cloning humans or animals. By providing new organs lifetime is increased thus bigger growth rate.
All other finished are good and accepted.

My thoughts about cloning centers were more about cloning organs as a medical center than cloning humans or animals. By providing new organs lifetime is increased thus bigger growth rate.
All other finished are good and accepted.

Food Replicators:
In the past, people had microwaves, these would cook their food using special frequency waves. Now though, you can go one step further. Battle Computers I:
Long ago, people taught a computer how to play chess. It was so good that few could beat it, and people soon took the idea further. Now we have battle computers, they can control your ship in battle, and maybe even win! They still lack the intelligence of humans, but they don't shout when things go wrong. Just don't shout at it when things go wrong.

I will try and think of some more of these tomorrow. Its quite hard, and some times I can think of things like this, other times not...
140 descriptions is going to be hard though, so any ideas where to start? I have a few possibilitys floating around my head, but nothing really good yet...I will keep thingking

Well, I could try and give you some ideas on how they "work", maybe it will help.
BTW, armors, shields and battle computers have generic names (most of them), so you could invent some names for them too.

Well, I could try and give you some ideas on how they "work", maybe it will help.
BTW, armors, shields and battle computers have generic names (most of them), so you could invent some names for them too.

Yeah, ok. I will try and think of some names, and that would help know how they work. I read something somewhere that they made a real shield using soundwaves. That wouldn't work in space, but is a starting point I guess, could mention it in sheild theory...
Maybe the first sheilds could be like Electron Sheild > Photon Sheild > etc. That may work.
Also, the armours have names in the ship builder, so those could be the names used in the research page. maybe Mega Armour needs a new name, some sort of matirial...
BTW, are those real metals, or made up metals? I know Titanium is real, but not the others...
Battle computers may be a bit harder, if they only effect dammage then I guess they dont control the ship movement etc. Just automatic weapons. So I guess:
Battle Computer 1 can just fire at a target.
Battle Computer 2 can have a basic collision detection that can hit moving targets by firing where it will be when the weapon reaches it, and not directly at it.
Battle Computer 3 needs AI, so maybe this can try to predict enemy movements.
Battle Computer 4 could plan a strategy to deal with the enemy formation etc.
Battle Computer 5 should try and lead enemys into a trap, and outsmart them.

Ok, for shields:
Deflector Shield: Uses energy to deflect attacks away from the ship.
Subspace Shield: Uses subspace to divert shots past the ship. Uses less energy than Deflecting them.
Plasma Shield: Not sure how plasma can be used as a shield, any ideas?
Antimatter Shield: Uses antimatter to cancel out the normal matter and form energy that gets dispersed. Can also split energy attacks into matter and antimatter and scatter the debris formed.
Warp Shield: Causes ripples in time/space that push attacks away.
The descriptions need some work, this is just what they could do

Ok, so...I have been thinking, and really these descriptions have a chance to be interesting. Not just descriptions, but something people can read while they wait for turns to tick etc...
Some have jokes, thats fine...but I am thinking that if we can relate them to interesting things, that people can then search for an read about if they are interested...thats the great thing about the internet, so it gives players something to do while they are waiting...
Now, their are things that we can add in. Things like legends, and all sorts of things...I am thinking linking them in to rumoured real technology that people say exists, and their is no proof. Things that are interesting...
I will try and find somethings like this, but I am sure their are some. Their was something I read once about them creating like a sound wave shield that uses sound waves to block attacks or something, maybe thats a description for a shield.
Also maybe drop a few hints about fagur/krong...things players of DQ:E will recongise but other won't...sort of like easter eggs.
For now though I am just trying to think of how some things may work...see my posts above for some ideas for things and see what you think to those...
Anyway, I will write some when I can, bit late now for this...I have been thinking though
