I was thinking today about things that made DQ:E most fun. And I cant help but feel that right now its was missing from DQ:H.

Anyway, basicaly the thing that made DQ:E most fun was community interaction. Just playing the game alone is boring, and winning is not enough...you need to feel that your progress means something, and also that you can have some ownership over your empire, more than just a name on a hall of fame.

Most of the things we used to do involved the forums, and while playing DQ:E I probably spent 80% of the time on the forums, and only 20% actualy playing the game. And that is really important to keeping players also. Most of the time players stay a few rounds and leave, but those that stay remain because they are not just playing the game, they are involved in it. Things like writing your empire/alliance storys, designing flags with smilies, having your alliance stand for something, more than just winning. All that takes time and effort from the player, and you can really build your empire to stand for something.

Anyway, things that I think are important are things like:

Player registration date (shown on forums in game and other places), this is basicaly when the player first created their account.

Overall hall of fame. This is something requested long ago for DQ:E. A list of how many wins (first place at end of round), number of guardians taken, total rounds played, and maybe an overall score based on this. And other stats about the player. This makes winning a round a lasting thing, not something lost after reset.

Profile page could have lots of things added to it. It would be good to have a public profile page also. Where the player can write about themselves, their empire (maybe story) and maybe even include images. This may be a membership only option, and where the paying members get a small amount of space for uploading screens etc. Dont have to be much, maybe 10 MB or something.

I think maybe the profile page can have 2 sections. First is a personal description, the second is an empire description. These can be disabled or enabled by the player depending on what they want to do, and if enabled, in places where their name is displayed (forums, hall of fame, planet screen etc) then you can click their name and view their profile page. Where their empire name is displayed, you could have a link to the empire page.

The forums could have more functionality. Not just text like DQ:E, but maybe support for some HTML (or something like this using your own tags inside [ and ]) and things, for changing font color, size, adding tables, links, and some other things.

Anyway, thats just a few ideas. Had some more but cant remember now

I totally agree with you. This was planed for DQ:H and even for DQ:E, but unfortunately wasn't implemented then. If you notices on main empire screen you already have your national flag from account profile. Same you'll have info about you general rank, wins even your emblem used for your empires and other information, showed where it is possible and appropriate.

Forums are still in progress. They will have that information too.

Anyway the plan is to finish battles and start new test round in 2 galaxies same time. So we could test everything one more time and see if it works in separate galaxies without totally independent one from another.

During this tests I plan to polish everything, implement services and "community interaction" part.

Ok, that sounds good

I knew the forums needed finishing, just wasnt sure exactly what would be in the finished forums.

Also the stuff about empire and profile page etc would be good.
