It seems that the latest weapons take more space than the same ammount of damage from weaker weapons.

For example:

Subspace Beam does 100 dammage and takes 40 space.

Where, Anti-matter Cannon does 50 but only takes 13 space. So, to get 100 dammage from these only takes 26 space. I could get alot more of these on a ship for better overall dammage.

Plasma Cannon does 30 dammage and only needs 5 space. So, to get (over) 100 dammage from that I only need 4, taking 20 space...

It seems the later weapons are not as good as the earlier ones when compaired in this way...

I know they will have different ranges, but even if turrets = short, cannon = mid and beam = long range. This still done explain the difference between plasma and antimatter...

Or are they better even then?

There could be some inconsistency in values, but sometime you'll go for a specific range even if they are less optimal Anyway there are lot of balancing ahead.

Ok, thats what I thought, about needing balancing and stuff. Guess it will all depend on what we intend our fleets to be like for what weapons ships need.
