the hardest thing about Krong is their inability to deal damage, i would suggest making U2's able to bombard as well, because it takes ungodly amounts of U1's to be able to destroy a planet, i would do this by making them a little more expensive, and i would also increase the cost of U4's because currently in Trio, I became able to make 1 U4 a turn around age 400, i find this rediculous. I would suggest atleast doubling the U4 cost.

With the Krong's new wormhole ability, I expected the Krong to turn into a more offensive rather then destructive race, but it just doesn't happen, wormholes don't hold much for a Krong player unless he used them to fly fighting units around, but with the weak U1's being the only ones able to attack planets, they are useless.

i say that ur idea is good about the U2 and Krong bombardment, but doubling the cost of the U4 is not, since it already is a good about and its the only weapon the krong have for planetary invasion even if it mean destroying the system. the wormhole ability already uses a heafty amount of things to make a wormhole, doubling the cost of a U4 is to me just abit too much.

from what i see, the krong are a support race in an alliance, helping the members beat the enemies, with its U4's and especially now with the wormhole ability.

i see what you are saying, but the doubling cost and U2 bombardment goes hand in hand, if U2's were in the future made to bombard, I would give U4's double cost to counter act that, because lets face it, 500 turns in, you can make unbelievable amount of units, or on the other hand, possibly a new unit, one with the capabilities of bombardment but without the capability of space combat, I would estimate the cost of it as a little more expensive then U2's, so in this case, U2's would be only able to fight the space battles, and U2.5 (......not really the name i'd look for) would be only able to be used for bombardment, with approximately the same strength of a U2. I would say this would be a pretty even compromise for Krong players, because they would be forced to make 2 sets of units in order to invade.

I'm eager to hear your thoughts on this, if it is practical or not

maybe, but doublin the U4's cost is not good for krong players, also making a unit good for bombardment maybe be unsettling the balance between the races, fagur are good at expanding and invading, humans good at planetary defence(orbital base) and bombardment and fleet but slow ships, krong good at expanding once u get the going able to colonize increadible amounts of planets also fleets the U3 and U2 were made for killin opposing fleets and merc bases. mercs well they're too overpowered for the other races, but now it easier to kill them with the merc base location and merc base sabotage options for mercs.

it will be nice to have a unit to bombard planets, but if it means chaning the best weapon that the krong have in da game i'll rather have a great womd (weapon of mass destruction) then having a unit to bombard planets. easier to destroy the star that da planets are orbiting around then bombarding it.

or let the u2 have the ability to be used as a bombardment unit as and have the rest of the cost of units increase maybe by half. if not maybe have a special option for the u2 or 3 in which it will be an analog to the fagurs bio bomb option

your right, it would unsettle all the powers, i didn't look into each races strength all that much. I just found it rediculous sending 5000000 u1's to attack a planet.

A great overview by Vhaeraun on races powers. Adding or changing a unit behaviour would change entire balance in the game. The isue regarding Krong bombardment could be solved by increasing Y-units bombardment damage. (For example it would generate 2.5 dmg per Y-unit)

i think that's a good idea, it's simple and a good compromise.
