Ok, so i do have a few suggestions/ideas. I also have a few questions, so ill rattle them off and see which one Maverick likes and can implement.
Question 1. If i have 5 titans to K's 8 cruisers, both ships have maximum shields, engines, health, etc., but the titans have more weapons, will the Titans lose the battle simply because they are outnumbered?
Suggestion 1. Tactics should not revolve around the number of ships alone. If this is the case, then its more or less useless to make anything higher then a frigate. There could be a cap on fleet sizes, maybe 30 per fleet group like you said Maverick.
Suggestion 2. If a ship is, pound for pound and statistically capable of killing off several ships before it goes down, that should be the case. If i have 30 ships capable of killing 2 of K's ships in a battle situation, and K has 100 ships capable of killing 1 ship each, then that should be the case. My fleet will be completely lost and K's will be down 60%.
To explain the second suggestion a little better, from a strategic stand point, if you know you are going to lose, you dont try to take out all the ships at once, you try to take every ship you can. The one thing that bothered me about mine and K's first engagement was that i lost 14 ships each time (which was fine,) but K lost only 24 ships and then 5 more to that. I realize that, yes, there would be much fewer casualties after each round of combat, but (with the exception of the Titans) my ships were all better then his, i expected at least casualties close to my fleet's size as opposed to half and then like a fifth.
Suggestion 3. Ships keep damage after battles unless repaired at planets. I think this would be a nice feature since one fleet wouldnt be able to endlessly walk through the enemy empire without it eventually being run down in numbers.
Suggestion 4. Im not sure how the system works right now, perhaps you can explain that Maverick, but i would like to see how it would work if you took all the attack damage, shields, and armor, added them all up and then did the math to figure out how many ships were lost on each side, and subtract accordingly from the weakest ships up.

No, titans might not lose the battle. Your titans will fire all weapons they have. I think you are still influenced by DQ:E because their you have battles by number here each ship is an entity with its own "health".

I've tried to do this from the beginning. For this you have tactics, formations and range. Maybe its not 100% like you described, but the idea is there.

This is implemented from the beginning. only shields regenerates.

Didn't fully understand you. Could you please rephrase it?
BTW, read thread "The battle encyclopedia". Entire battle system is explained there as it is today.

Every turn? If so, that probably doesnt help outnumbered ships much

Ok i edited that above post now.
Also, it wasnt entirely clear, but i wanted to just make sure that when you attack, its youre firepower vs. the enemy's combined shields and armor and the same thing in reverse for whoever you are attacking.

| It regenerates with 10% from maximum capacity (i.e. if max shield is 100 then shield will be regenerated by 10)

As I said, ships are separate entities. I have information about each ship. Not just numbers.

So how do we see each ships' stats once theyre in a fleet. I know theres a health and shields thing, but that doesnt help much when theres more then one ship...or is that a total?

Currently you cant. But you'll have a feature to see ships stats. Fleets info shows ship designs stats, not totals.

Not sure, it depends whats on the ships etc.
But this is what I was saying before about tactics. I found that 3 frigates with max armour and level 4 sheild (need 10 space for engine) will be about equal in HP to a titan, but MUCH MUCH cheaper. So, by using the formation where small ships are lost first, you can make sure the damage is absorbed by the small ships and these are so cheap it dont matter.
So, I dont know about the titan example. But 2 cruisers have as much HP as a titan, so maybe 10 crusers would beat 5 titans, depending on weapons/range etc.
Also, what weapons are you using? I use 90% plasma cannons, and a few others. I dont know the range of plasma cannons, but they are the best for damage per ship space used. Thats how I get so much damage from my ships.

My titans have 8 of every single weapon. Hence the name Lucky Eight. I figured i'd try it for laughs. They have do 4288 damage a piece.
It was also just an example to illustrate a point. Good useful knowledge about the small ships though
