Would it be possible to have a galaxy that never gets reset?
also players would get an infinite number of rounds.
This would be difficult because the strongest alliance/empire would take control.
Ways to stop this could be natural disasters like meteors hitting certain planets and causing damage.
Other ways would be to give new players alot of resources and alot of turns befor they could be attacked.

In this galaxy the systems could overtime change from one star class to another and eventualy turn into black hole.

new systems could be regenerated from the center and slowly over time move out further into the galaxy.

The black holes that would be at the edge of the galaxy could be deleted as they get too far away.

This would also make it harder for strong empires becouse they would eventualy lose planets as the systems turn into black holes.

The GP could be located at the edge of the galaxy or in systems that never move. Other planets could be placed in systems that do not move to. This would give the player that found them an advantage because they would not get destroyed.

Is this possible???

a galaxy like that would be really cool, but without a reset, imagine a strong Krong player, they have unlimited expansion, and after 1000 turns they could dust the entire galaxy with blackholes, and continually be able to expand. If it was only a Merc, Fagur, or Human galaxy it would work and/or if they placed a total limit on krong expansion just for this universe (possibly 100 planets, which is enough to allow maybe 1 U4 a turn.) I wouldn't mind seeing Krong with a limit.

300 turns is enough, to get most started, I do like the the random meteors damaging or even destroying planets, maybe after stars reach top class they nova destroying the star system. I think this would be alot of fun.

I like the ever changing galaxy idea, but if i'm not mistaking, one theory is that the universe oscillates, so after 2000 turns of expansion it would shrink and then after 2000 years it would expand again. This seems like it would be a really difficult thing to program, as cool as it sounds i don't know how'd they pull it off. Also, imagine the coorinate system, with galaxies constantly moving, i want to send my units to the system at 300,600 and by time my Krong warp there it's no longer there, or i'm using acceleration, and a system moves into that spot, what then?

The galaxy would last until there is a true winner, that seems fun, but what about merc's, if a merc wanted to be solo, they could never win, I think mercs need the opportunity too, but I could see this galaxy as being tons of fun, but I only wonder how plausible this is. Lets wait to see what the admins think.

All this ideas a great, but that would mean creating a totaly new game.

The problems about coordinates of systems being different could be solved if each system had its own ID number, fleets could be sent to this system instead of to its coordinates at any one time.

Also, I read on the fourum (cant find it now) an idea about connecting the galaxys together using wormholes.

This new galaxy could be connected to the other galaxys by a wormhole (at the center) that allows fleets from other galaxys to enter it. when the fleet re enters the wormhole it will automaticaly be sent back to the galaxy it came from (or would not be alowed back). This will stop fleets going from one galaxy to the other. For example a fleet from Virgo will not be allowed into trio.

If this does not work, the best of each race when a galaxy is reset could automaticaly be sent to this new galaxy. They would be given a planet like new players but would also have the resources, points, name and ships they had in the previous galaxy. if the player is already playing in this galaxy they could be given the resources and fleets to be added to the new galaxy.

It could be made so that the only way to enter the galaxy would be by winning in one of the other galaxys first.

Turn time could be very high at about 1 hour per turn.

A way to stop black holes destroying the whole syystem would be to ban them or alow each race a way of protecting a system against artificial black holes. They could build a shield that takes an ammount of energy per turn.

It could be possible to have a second version of the game separate from this original version, they could both be on this same site but have different rules and galaxys.

Yes It could be, with enough resources and time

Once again, I put my full backing to a realy galaxy with 10 minute rounds..it's almost like a turbo galaxy..and that ay it can be mroe intense..

Anyway, as for galaxy ideas..:

How about one for experienced players only, where they can join only in the beginning (and say the first 300 turns or what not), and in the time of joining must choose an alliance. This should not be too hard since there are already many established alliances in this game. Then, for the galaxy, there could be separate big clusters of star systems, one for each of the alliances...adn the systems would be rather far away. The clusters could be linked by one or a couple of wormholes, which would be strategic points for the alliances to find and guard..almost like guardian planets..whichever alliance works together and holds those points best will succeed because that will allow them to send in fleets to destroy enemies..this would a good tournament style galaxy for a war between the alliances..

Only problem that i just realized is that fagur can't use the wormholes..but donno..its just an idea..

i would like to see like a 5,000 - 10,000 turn turbo galxy 10 min per turn
there is more then one galaxy say each galaxy is 500 by 500 and to change galaxy you must research a certain science that takes a hell of alot of resources say
100,000,000 metal and energy for human and krong
5,000,000,000 u.c for mercenary
25,000,000 spores and 25,000,000 biogel for fagur
and then you can make your own wormwhole to the other galaxy which no-one else can use.
it could be hard to make but alot of fun.

so all the galaxys we have already could be put into a seperate game called 'delta quadrant: universe' and it would be great just another idea
i know it must be hard to do what you have done already nevermind this
