I think the scanning process for some things is slow because in order to get the whole galaxy it takes a long time just to explore half of it
then by the time you explore it all the games halfway done

Hmmm, or my English is so bad, or I do not see any suggestions here - can You explain what You mean more detailed?

Sorry what I meant is that I think the krongs scanning method is really slow compared to the other races methods, and I think it should be sped up
its probably just me though

| Actualy Krong scanning can be quite fast. Take a look at acceleration of your nodes.

u just have to do it individual scan not mass scan. the mass scan is pretty slow if you want to scan the whole galaxy

You can use acceleration for mass scan too - of course, You need additioanal energy for this.

What is the resource/acceleration?.. If I put an acceleration of 2, does it mean I use twice as many resources, and does it mean that I explore in half the time?

No, Acceleration mean the same as for Jump.
For example, You want to scan 2 systems - one 100 quadrants away and one 200.
1) You can do this manually, using acceleration 2. It will consume X energy and 50 Y-units for system 1 and Z energy and 50 Y-units for system 2.
-or-
2) You can do this using mass scan - if You provide acceleration the same as in case 1, You will neex X+Z Energy and 50+50 Y-units.
Is it clear ?

Yupp 100%. I just am wishing/wondering whether it would be possible for the resources required to do a mass scan (esp the energy) to be shown. I did a mass scan my Y-units at acceleration 5, and since it's rather early in the game, I took a hit on my energy resources that was harsh (though I came out of it easily, having 2 R mineral planets and cec's on both of them).

Hmmm, it is hard to implement - because script in Your browser do not know nothing about distance from any of Your fleets and nearest N stars. I`ll think how it can be at least estimated, but until You can calculate approximative energy need for mass scan in excell - I published all formulas some time ago here - I can repost it or You can get it from JS source
