Does unused maintenance get stored? So if I have spare now and negative income later, will it keep my buildings going as long as I have some stored? Or do you need to make enough to cover all buildings all the time...

If income - maintenance > 0 it is stored to your empire's treasure otherwise it is extracted, until you treasure have negative balance. Then your ships and buildings will be sold one by one.

If income - maintenance > 0 it is stored to your empire's treasure otherwise it is extracted, until you treasure have negative balance. Then your ships and buildings will be sold one by one.

Thats ok then, so its fine to store up lots of money, then have negative for a short while while you do important things.
